The Problem

The patient bathrooms had become outdated, damaged, and difficult to clean. With increasing patient complaints regarding their bathrooms, the hospital’s operations team contacted Miracle Method to investigate surface refinishing. The hospital needed a solution that was fast, affordable and caused little disruption to patients and staff.

The scope of work for 11 bathrooms included refinishing tile showers, terrazzo pans, wall & floor tile, and laminate vanities. After repairing the surfaces, Miracle Method technicians applied Natural Accents® stone-look finishes for a modern look. A low VOC refinishing system was used that gives off very little odor. The projects were completed using a silver ion antimicrobial solution in the final clear coat to help inhibit the growth of bacteria.

The Problem

Outdated bathrooms at Driscoll Children’s Hospital were in need of an affordable upgrade. Damaged tile floors were leaking to the floors below, and bathroom walls were ugly, dirty and worn. Renovations required a fast turnaround that could allow the hospital to maintain operations without the disruption that would be caused by full demolition and replacement.

Pink tile in patient bathrooms in an older section of the hospital were seriously outdated. The worn grout was becoming difficult to clean, and creating concerns about mold and mildew growth. The Director of Facilities Management discovered Miracle Method at an American Society of Healthcare Engineering Conference and knew they had found a budget-saving solution.

Repairing all damage to tile & grout, and changing tile colors is a mainstay of Miracle Method’s surface refinishing. A key byproduct of surface refinishing is completely sealed grout. This eliminates the grout’s ability to retain moisture and virtually erases concerns about mold and mildew growth. The refinished tile floors and walls were not only updated and more attractive, but much easier to clean and maintain.
